Luanda — Members of the religious association called Sukyo Mahikari in Angola Sunday here paid homage to the martyrs of Kifangondo battle, with a pilgrimage to the monument with the same name, located in Cacuaco district, outskirts of Luanda, to mark All Soul's Day.
The ceremony took place in the site where on November 10, 1975 was held the famous battle of Kifangondo, between the former Angola's People Liberation Armed Forces (FAPLA) and foreign invaders, whose victory made it possible the proclamation of Angola independence, in the following day, by President António Agostinho Neto.
On the occasion, Miguel Pereira Diogo João, one of the officials of Mahikari in Angola, led a thank-giving ceremony in honour to the souls of those who fell in that battlefield.
The event was witnessed by the administrator of the monument, António Manuel Alfredo, who narrated to those present the tactic and technique used by the Angolan combatants, with the support of Cuban internationalists, so that the national sovereignty could be an accomplished fact.
Sukyo Mahikari is a religious association founded in Japan, in 1959, by master Kotama Okada "Sukuinushi-Sama", and it is established in the all continents. Its action consists in the transmission of "the divine light through the palm of the hand".
In Angola, the organisation was recognised in June 1992 and counts on more than 1,000 faithful.
