Angola: Governor Lays Wreath on Day of the Dead

Luanda — The provincial governor of Luanda, Francisca do Espírito Santo this Sunday paid tribute to an unknown soldier, by laying a wreath at "Santa Ana" cemetery.

The activity was part of the celebrations of the Day of the Dead (All Souls Day) being commemorated by the Catholic Church this Sunday (November 02), following the All Saints Day, November 01.

At the end of the activity, the governor told the press that the gesture is aimed at remembering all citizens laid to rest, not only in Luanda but also countrywide.

Asked about the pillaging actions recorded in some cemeteries, she stated that people should have the conscience to preserve public properties.

Accompanied by provincial directors and officers of the National Police, Francisca do Espírito Santo, noted that the provincial government is carrying out works to improve various cemeteries based in Luanda.

A heavy turn-out was recorded this Sunday morning at the cemeteries of Santa Ana, Alto das Cruzes and Camama.
