A number of Village Health Teams in Pallisa District have run out of malaria drugs, following the suspension of the use of Homapak.
Homapak is a combination of Fancidar and Chloroquine which members of the Village Health Teams (VHTs) have been using for home based treatment of malaria.
Ms Alice Nabeja, who heads one of the Village Health Teams in Nabuli Village, said they were stopped from using Homapak about three months ago following its ineffectiveness. She said they had not got Coartem, as promised by the Ministry of Health.
Ms Nabeja revealed this during the distribution of 500 insecticide-treated mosquito-nets by United Way Uganda, an NGO, to the residents of Nabuli village on October18.
