Uganda: Cholera Strikes Kayunga, Kills One

A cholera outbreak in Kayunga has left one person dead and 15 others admitted in Kayunga Hospital in critical condition. Authorities said Kayunga town council is the most affected due to congestion coupled with poor sanitation and heavy rains.

The District Director of health services, Dr Ediriisa Musisi, on Friday identified the dead as Nakacwa Rehema, a resident of Kisombwa village in Kayunga town.

Those in critical condition include Mr Musa Nsamba, Mayi Nakazi, Ms Josephine Nansamba and Katerera James. Dr Musisi said several other suspected patients with cholera but not in critical condition were being attended to in their homes.
