Kampala — Heavy rains in and around Kampala on Sunday morning forced the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) to postpone the climax of this year's Castle Lager National Cricket League.

Title contenders Tornado and Wanderers have to keep their champagne on ice for at least another week after their games were washed out. Tornado were to face defending champions Africa Cricket Club (ACC) at Kyambogo Oval while Wanderers must wait to face Nile in Entebbe.

UCA organising secretary Davis Turinawe was disappointed that the games didn't get underway but remains certain that it will be worth the wait when they are finally played.

"It's very disappointing that the games were not played due to natural reasons. I hope that the all the teams that missed out will be ready and focused when the games are re-scheduled," Turinawe told Daily Monitor on phone yesterday. The top four teams will qualify for the Castle Champions Trophy which commands Shs1m in prize money.
