Kampala — Rugby Cranes' dream of featuring at the 2009 Sevens Rugby World Cup (RWC) was extinguished after they succumbed to a 26-19 loss to Tunisia at the El Menzah Stadium in Tunis yesterday.
Namibia forced the Ugandans to surrender a 12-7 half time lead despite a fantastic try by Captain Allan Musoke and one apiece from Timothy Mudoola and veteran Robert Sseguya. The dispirited Cranes went on to lose the Plate semifinal to Madagascar 12-26.
Favourites Kenya beat Zimbabwe in the final and will be joined in Dubai by hosts Tunisia, who won the third place play-off against Namibia.
