Sierra Leone: Cocaine Case Still a Preliminary Investigation...Says Defence Counsel

The four months cocaine case is still a preliminary investigation matter says lawyer Easmon Ngawki as prosecution lawyer Gerald Soyee applied for an adjournment of the matter.

He said that the cocaine trial between the Inspector General of Police and Arvey Stevens Perez is still a P.I. and there is a magistrate so what the prosecution should do is to come with an interpreter so that the matter can go on despite the absence of the substantive magistrate.

Earlier on, lawyer Soyee had informed Magistrate Shyllon that Magistrate Deen Tarawally is sick and cannot attend court sittings, so he is applying for an adjournment to Friday November 7.

On the issue of an interpreter, Soyee said, "this is not Europe when one is bereaved and stays at home for just a day."
