Kampala — RAIN conspired to hand Tornado the 2008 Castle Lager Super Six title on Sunday after two decisive games were washed out.
Tornado's game against last year's champions ACC failed to take off resulting in a draw, which was just enough for them to recapture the title.
Wanderers, who also had a chance of winning the league, did not get the opportunity to close the gap as their match was also washed out.
With Tornado amassing an unassailable 38 points, Wanderers (30) who have a game in hand, can only chase for second position. The maximum they can get now is 35 points.
+Six players of the newly crowned national Super Six champions Tornado got but one day to relish their achievement after flying to South Africa yesterday with the national side.
Joel Olweny, Charles Waiswa, Frank Nsubuga, Benjamin Musoke, Nehal Bibodi and Akbar Baig make up the Tornado contingent on the 14-man squad that will spend November at the High Performance Centre in Pretoria with national coach Ebrahim Mohammed.
"It was a big achievement for us especially after we were cheated last year," Tornado skipper Keith Legesi said, referring to the boardroom decision to strip them of the title for failing to pay their subscription in time.
The national team is two months away from the World Division 3 Cricket League which will double as qualifiers for the 2009 World Cup.
