Uganda: Witch Doctor Held Over Murder

Kampala — A witch doctor and his wife have been remanded to Katoojo Prison in Fort Portal district over murder.

Boniface Kabinda, 39, a resident of Kyaitamba village in Hakibaale sub-county with his wife Molly Tumuhikye from Kagadi town council are said to have kidnapped a seven-year-old boy, Francis Bwenge, who was on his way to school.

Court on Friday, heard that on October 13 Kabinda asked for a ransom of sh1.5m from the boy's parents, Samuel Mwesige, 30, and Gertrude Nkonyera, 27, of Kyaitamba village.

The parents said Kabinda told them that if they failed to raise the money, they would receive their son's body parts.

Court also heard that after a week of searching, the boy's body was discovered in Tumuhikye's sister, Grace Kansiime's pit latrine, wrapped in a polythene bag.

Prosecution said the boy's tongue, private parts and heart were removed. Kabinda on 20 October was rescued by the Police from an angry mob, which burnt his house and property.

Speaking at the Police station, Kabinda said his gods had demanded for three children, adding that he had already given them two girls.

The Kabinda and Tumuhikye will appear in court on November 13.
