Kigali — Research to closely examine the relationships between donors and their recipients is going on in five African states described as 'fragile states'.
Rwanda together with Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Sudan and Uganda are among the countries being studied.
In Rwanda, for the past three weeks international research organisations in collaboration with Institute of Policy Analysis and Research Rwanda (IPAR) have been interviewing top government officials, local and international Non Government Organisations (NGOs) and the Civil Society to gather data for the research.
The research that started six months back in other countries is based on donors' macro perspective on aid-receiving countries and aid delivery mechanisms on state-building.
"Our focus is on discovering and analyzing how donors have acted, identifying best practices and seeking out lessons that are relevant to a wide range of interventions," said Prof. James Putzel an international researcher from the London school of Economics and Political Science.
