A year long Disaster Risk Reduction project, initiated and implemented by Concern Universal and Saint Joseph Family Farm Centre in four villages namely Kusamai, Kaimo, Janah and Kabokorr recently ended at Kusamai village, in Foni Bintang District, Western Region.
The project, according to official information, over the years helped in the poverty reduction of villages in Foni and in the enhancement of villagers' livelihoods, as well as creating avenues for income generation for the communities.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the chief of Foni Bintang District, Mustapha Camara, said the projects have promoted love and peaceful coexistence among the people of the area and beyond.
Fabakary Kalleh of the Youth Ambassadors of Peace said that they had worked in partnership with Concern Universal and Saint Joseph Family Farm Centre over the years, in the implementation of such projects. He then dilated on the importance of peace called for a consolidation and safeguarding of peace.
Marcel Badjie, director of Saint Joseph's Family Farm Centre pointed out some intervention areas of the project including assistance given to refugees from Cassamance in the form of providing them with food and agricultural inputs. According to him, the project has helped many communities in Foni.
