Reverend Alexander K. Nyantakyi, Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Akim Oda, has attributed poor academic performance to indiscipline among students.
He cited alcoholism, drug abuse, hooliganism, and absenteeism among factors militating against effective teaching and learning.
Rev. Nyantakyi, who is also the District Director of Presbyterian Schools, was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency last Saturday.
He said inadequate number of teachers and infrastructure in schools also affected the development of education.
Rev. Nyantakyi called on government to ensure regular in-service training for teachers, especially those in the rural areas to enable them to upgrade their skills and knowledge.
