Botswana: Diphatsa Not Scared of Kutlwano

31 October 2008

After eliminating volleyball powerhouse BDF VI in the semi-final of the Debswana Cup last weekend, all eyes will be on Diphatsa when they meet Kutlwano in the men's final at the Police College in Otse tomorrow. The game promises to be a thriller as both sides have shown potential to win the coveted trophy.

Kutlwano seems to have regained form and Diphatsa will have to be at their best to stop them.

If their character during the initial stages of the tournament is anything to go by, then Diphatsa is in for a tough call. 'Big House' as Kutlwano are affectionately known has shown a lot of determination in the tournament.

Shadrack Kapeko is expected to spearhead the Kutwlano onslaught. But Kutlwano must be prepared to work extra time to stop the likes of Nthabisi Ndlovu and Nlebesi Mphapho. The two stood tall during the semi-final win against the formidable BDF VI.

Diphatsa are still oozing with confidence after beating their army brothers and the final can go either way. The two sides seem to have the same character when it comes to playing.

They are determined sides that have always remained calm and concentrated even when the going got tough.

Diphatsa coach Daniel Ngozi has said they are ready for the final against opponents that are beatable.

He added that after overcoming a strong team like BDF VI, nothing will stop them from lifting the trophy tomorrow. He added that the morale is very high in the camp and they are eager for the game. He added that they had a chance to rectify the mistakes they identified during the semi-finals. Ngozi said that Kutlwano is a good side but his boys will play their own game as they did against BDF VI.

Kutlwano coach Isaac Samuel is confident that his team will do well. He said they have been training hard and they are correcting the problems they had in defence.

He explained that it was not an easy journey to the final as they had to overcome tough sides like Mafolofolo and BDF VI.

Samuel said his team's improved performance is as a result of hard work.

He said they have always had good players but they could not perform well because they failed to play as a unit. He stated that they are not going to have it easy against Diphatsa.

He added that Diphatsa players are a highly determined lot who do not give up easily. But he warned them to be on the alert as they meet a team that is itching for a win. "We have not won in a long time and we believe our time is here," he said.
