Ghana: A. R. Harruna Attah Writes On - These Annoying Text Messages

Kwami, I don't know if you are also on their texting lists; I am referring to our political parties, but especially the NDC and NPP.

Something that may have sounded to their strategists and campaign managers as innovative and a novelty is now quite becoming counter-productive.

The messages they send are often so crude and meaningless you wonder why they bother!

Now, when I see a political text message, I do not give a damn where it is coming from, I delete it straight away. I was grousing over it last weekend with a few cronies and surprise, surprise, they were also in agreement.

If you want to canvass for votes, you can do better than send silly text messages first thing in the morning or late at night to citizens who want the peace of mind to make other crucial choices facing their lives and not political haranguing from people, some of whom actually are intent on sending our country to the brink!

My recommendation: They should turn inward by texting themselves and opponents with a constant message of peace and non-violence and perhaps the novelty and innovation of political text messaging could yet be a useful and worthwhile exercise...
