Ghana/Tunisia: Tunisia to Test Stars in Accra

5 November 2008

The Black Stars will play the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia on November 19 at the Ohene Djan Stadium in an international friendly.

The game in Accra will be one of many preparatory games that the GFA are hoping to line up before Ghana resume their bid to qualify for the 2010 World Cup in a group that includes Sudan, Benin and Mali.

While the Black Stars have been regularly active on international match days, the game will be unique because most friendlies have taken place in the past in locations outside the Ghana.

The GFA says the game will form part of efforts to rally Ghanaians for peaceful elections but ultimately it is the opportunity it provides to see his players again after their last competitive match in September that will thrill Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac.

The GFA had considered playing South Americans Paraguay in Accra but binned the idea after deciding it was going to be too expensive.

Tunisia though come with a good reputation having been to the last three World Cups.
