Ghana: Zumdick in to Offer Tech Assistance

5 November 2008

Former Ghana coach Ralf Zumdick will spend the next four weeks in Obuasi to offer technical assistance to AshantiGold in the early weeks of the Ghana Football season.

Zumdick has been tipped as a potential coach of the Miners which is now under the control of Herbert Mensah but Fortia Limited says his arrival is not a sign of an imminent arrival.

Instead a club statement said Zumdick has taken a four week break from his duties as assistant at Borrusia Dortmund to offer technical assistance.

Zumdick who was first recruited to Ghana by Mensah during his tenure at Kotoko and later switched camp to King Faisal when Mensah moved camp before a successful five-month stint with the Black Stars is expected to advise Fortia and Ashantigold on the technical direction of the club.

Mensah said: "Zumdick is here to impart his wealth of experience at top German clubs to our technical team who are readying to start the league and also revive the Ashgold academy."

"The Ashantigold project is a diverse one and we will not hesitate to tap the experience and knowledge of all our friends in the sporting world. Ralf's visit which is a follow up to the historic visit of Pini Zahavi to Ghana is one of many," he added.
