Uganda: Boxing Report Pins Former UABF Boss

Kampala — NORMALISATION committee chairman Dr. Ntege Ssengendo and David Kyambadde are partly to blame for the current chaos in the local boxing federation, according to a National Council of Sports report.

The duo is serving on the current executive of Roger Ddungu which has fallen out with the boxing clubs leading to the formation of a rival association to manage boxing.

An NCS committee investigating the federation, concluded that Ssengendo and Kyambadde's sudden involvement with the new executive created susipicion which might have contributed to the wrangles.

The state sports minister Charles Bakkabulindi, who is planned to meet the NCS investigating committee after reading the report, said that the committee wanted a bylaw inserted to block any member who works on a normalisation committee from taking up a position on the executive of the federation until five years have elapsed.

"Part of the blame is put on the former members of the normalisation committee," said Bakkabulindi, who will meet the committee tomorrow.

The disgruntled clubs accuse the federation of changing the constitution, failure to call an assembly and also hold activities and hiking the registration fee.

At the same time the federation accuses the rebel clubs of resisting change and good organisation to make their clubs functional for the good of the game.

"There are some gaps that were left in the report and are not answered. I will meet both warring parties and come up with a solution for the good of boxing," said Bakkabulindi.
