Uganda: UYSA Gets SN Brussels Boost

5 November 2008

Kampala — SN Brussels airline and the Uganda Youth Soccer Academy (UYSA) have entered into a partnership in which the airline will fly the team and officials at friendly rates.

Sabiiti Muwanga reports that the airline's country manager Pierre de Clerck announced the commitment last week at a luncheon hosted in honour of the team that featured in the Football Festival in Denmark in July. The team, that won bronze in the U-14 category, was hosted at Faze II.

De Clerck, who expressed gratitude with the team's performance in Denmark, urged the youngsters to return with top honours during the next summer.

"This year you came home with bronze. However I am challenging you to win the main trophy at the next visit," De Clerck stated.

The airline will also in March fly coach Matia Lule to Belgium to acquaint himself with coaching at Belgian academies.

Earlier, the academy director Ivan Kakembo had explained the progress of the academy to date. He said all the players are schooling at Happy Hours for easy monitoring.

De Clerck was happy to learn that the youngsters were going to school. He encouraged them to take their studies seriously.
