Ghana: Jibril Set for Belgium Loan Spell

5 November 2008

Portsmouth's new Ghanaian signing Tawrick Jibril will be farmed out on loan to a Belgian club as he seeks to meet the requirements for acquiring a British work permit.

The 17-year old Ghanaian has been signed on by Pompey on a free transfer but will begin his football education in Belgium with Zulte-Waregem.

It is in line with a growing trend where young Africans ineligible for UK work permit spend time in Belgium to gain experience before eventually making the move and Jibril is looking forward to it.

"It's an understatement to say I am delighted with this move," he told KickOffGhana.com.

"I will return to Accra and then head to Belgium which I am really looking forward to because I know it's a good place to start from as we have seen with many Africans."
