Uganda: Americans Aid Tororo Schools

Tororo — The Church of God, a Christian organisation from Alaska, USA on October 29, donated a computer to Aturukuku Primary School in Tororo Municipality.

The donation of the computer followed an earlier donation of bicycles to all the teachers of the same school by the same organisation to ease their transport problems.

The organisation's representatives, Mr Jack Sauls and John Jewel said that they would continue to work in partnership with the school through their sister Church, Miracle Centre in Tororo which linked them to the school.

Tororo Deputy Mayor, Mr John Nabende Watenyeli expressed gratitude to the Americans for their support to the educational programmes in the area and appealed for more of such support to other schools.

The donation came weeks after another US-based Charity, "Tools For Schools" donated books worth Shs10million to Herreigns College Malaba.

Tools For Schools, a subsidiary of Hope For Kids International also donated 17 footballs and spent over Shs2m to improve the school's library storage facilities.

The leader of delegation, Ms Kathee Gaskin from Indiana, US flanked by Kelly Kiki from Washington said during the handover of the facilities at the school that they were committed to improving the reading culture by equipping schools with reading materials as one of the most important ways of raising the academic standards.

Hope For Kids International , the umbrella Ngo works with many poor communities in third world countries which include Uganda and many others in Latin America like Mexico.

The aid was received by the Director of the School, Pastor Joseph Wanjala, who hailed the donors for their generous contribution to the school and called for their continued support.
