Luanda — Angolan minister of Health, José Van-Dúnem, said Tuesday in Luanda that the struggle against Hiv/Aids, malaria and other transmitted diseases are a common challenge that must be faced by everyone.
Addressing the cross-border meeting involving specialists from Angola, Zambia, Democratic Republic of Congo and Namibia, the minister stressed the need for the examples of success scored by other countries to be emulated, in the quest for the goals of the millennium until 2015 and improvement of peoples' living.
José Van-Dúnem said as well that rationalised and shared cooperation is fundamental, and appealed to the various countries to see to it that the existing cooperation is being fully used.
According to the minister, cross-border meetings have started to help solve the poliomyelitis problem, which has made it clear the need for a discussion of the health problems affecting the four countries.
He added that the struggle against the disease, that is the promotion of health, could only be won, once the above mentioned challenges are taken to the districts, and everyone takes the leadership in the search for the support required for the success of the purposes.
José Van-Dúnem also called the attention to the importance for actions at district level, which means dedication of every living forces among the professionals of health, education, women organisations, traditional and administrative authorities.
According to the official, the four countries together can promote synergies resulting from exchange of experience and signals of the good practices and implement and generalise the idea that success will come the earliest, depending on the capacity to involve all living forces.
