Nigeria: Nigeria Olympic Project for Launch February 2009

The Nigeria Olympic Project, a Non-Governmental initiative geared towards building, organizing, planning and sourcing for the next generation of sporting heroes, especially for future Olympic Games will be launched during the National Sports Festival, KADA GAMES billed for Kaduna State between February15-25th, 2009.

According to the Projects Media Consultant, Mr. Kayode Tijani, the Initiator of the Project, Mr. Alistair Soyode had concluded plans for the launching for November 2008, but due to the postponement of the National Sports Festival, he was duly advised to move the date to February 2009 by the Ogun State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon Bukola Olopade, whose State will be playing a key part in the project".

Tijani stated that Alistair Soyode, the initiator of the project, who happens to be the Founder of the First Afro-Caribbean Television station in Europe, BEN TV came up with the idea of the Project after Nigeria's dismal showing at the Beijing Olympic Games". The goal is to prepare well ahead of future Olympic Games, starting with the London 2012 Games. The Project is not government owned, it's a complete private initiative but will be government backed and approved.
