Luanda — Angolan minister of Energy, Emanuela Vieira Lopes, Wednesday in Luanda, sworn in Pedro Lemos as director general of the Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority (AREA), tasked with securing the full functioning of new energetic body.
At the ceremony, attended by the Oil minister, Botelho de Vasconcelos, and the minister of Science and Technology, Maria Cândida Texeira, the Energy minister also sworn in AREA'a director general assistant, Armindo Mussungo.
Emanuela Vieira Lopes that considered the function as symbolic, appealed to the newly invested officials for high sense of responsibility, team-work and cooperation spirit in their daily work.
In her turn, Maria Cândida Teixeira, one of the figures involved in the implementation of the project recalled that it followed a long, hardworking and complex process that has led to fruitful results.
"This is a new Project, but very ambitious and safe that is entering a new phase in which we become with the feeling of having accomplished duty," she said.
Botelho de Vasconcelos highlighted the difficulties developing countries face to be admitted as members of the International Agency of Atomic Energy of which Angola is a member.
Angola is a member of the International Agency for Atomic Energy since 1999, having the National Assembly (Parliament) approved the Atomic Energy Law and created the AREA in 2007.
