Angola: Science Minister at Nuclear Technology Exhibition

Luanda — Angolan minister of Science and Technology, Maria Cândida Teixeira, is leaving Luanda on Thursday for Reno, Nevada, United States of America, to attend the winter nuclear technology exhibition from November 9-13.

According to a note from the Ministry of Science of Technology (MINCIT) that reached Angop, the event is organised by the United State's nuclear society and aims at exploring the possibilities of a nuclear renascence in the underdeveloped nations.

The Angolan minister is expected to address the event, presenting the current state of nuclear programmes in the country and their future perspectives, particularly the nuclear energy development plan, the types of technologies required for the programmes and concerned regulatory regime.

Angola is a member of the International Agency of Atomic Energy since 1999. In 2007, the National Assembly (Parliament) approved the Atomic Energy Law and created the concerned regulatory authority.
