Luanda — The Angolan Environment minister, Maria de Fátima Monteiro Jardim, last Wednesday in Luanda said that the preservation and conservation of the environment, partly depends on strong and safe partnerships with the public and private sectors, as well as on donations or adequate strategies for the Angolan eco-tourism.
The minister, who visited the Kissama National Park and chaired the closing ceremony of the first course for forests supervisors, revealed that one of the challenges of her institution is to train more inspectors in the ambit of the newly created Ministry of the Environment, who, among other things, would take care of the environmental concerns and responsibilities in collaboration with the citizen.
This training plan, said the minister, in also intended for the creation of jobs, especially for former soldiers, and also for rejuvenating the sector of forests inspection services, which is important for the preservation and protection of biodiversity, the country's eco-system and conservation areas.
"Human beings are the main perpetrators of environmental damage, however, we can also see here people that will use their professionalism and knowledge to give continuity to the preservation and conservation of nature (...)", she emphasised.
Maria de Fátima Monteiro Jardim was accompanied in this trip by the minister of Hotels and Tourism, Pedro Mutindi, the deputy
Ministers of Environment and Tourism, respectively Syanga Abílio and Paulino Baptista, as well as by some environmentalists.
