MAASE, a community in the Kwabre West constituency emerged winners of the football gala competition organized by the Member of Parliament, Mr. Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah last Sunday.
Twenty teams comprising Division Two and Three, as well as community teams participated in the event held at the Aduman Senior High School grounds.
Maase went home with a giant trophy, a cash of GH¢300 and a set of jersey, while Mpobi, who were the runners-up received a cash prize of GH¢200 and a football.
All participating teams received an NPP branded football and an amount of GH¢50. The gala itself, which attracted hundreds of football fans including children from neigbouring communities, was meant to foster unity, love and oneness among the constituents.
Hon. Owusu-Ansah, who is also the Ashanti regional Minister, charged the youth, especially NPP activists, to eschew acts of violence in the communities as the nation prepares for the polls in December.
He said irrespective of the fact that Ashanti region was the stronghold of the NPP, it was important that the youth go out in their numbers to canvass for votes for him, as the MP and the NPP flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
