South Africa: Platinum Stars Put Four Past Santos

6 November 2008

Platinum Stars gave Santos a 4-1 thumping in their Absa Premiership match at Olympia Park on Thursday afternoon.

The goals were scored by Erwin Isaacs for Santos, and Henrico Botes, Godfrey Sapula, Tshepo Ramokala and Simba Marumo for Stars.

The game was started 25 minutes in, picking up where it had been abandoned yesterday due to bad light.

Although Santos opened the scoring, when Isaacs slotted home an Eleazar Rodgers pass, Stars scored four in the final fifteen minutes of the game to earn their third win of the League season.

First, Almiro Lobo sent through a pass to Botes, who scored a low goal from just six yards on 69 minutes to make it 1-1.

Next, Sapula sent Stars ahead in the 76th minute, after Steve Lekoelea crossed the ball in from the left wing.

Ramokala made it 3-1 just two minutes later, when he poked in a cross from Botes.

Finally, veteran Marumo converted a penalty confidently in the 89th minute of the game, after Magogi Gabonamong fouled Botes in the area, to make it 4-1.
