Uganda: Caesar Okhuti Instinct Worth 12 Million Tag

Kampala — AFTER a mediocre start to the season, Caeser Okhuti has not only started justying his pre-season sh12m transfer fees, but also projected potential as Cranes most promising star forward.

A combination of injuries, lack of career guidance and to an extent a substantial measure of misfortune had conspired to keep him out of the news since his transfer to Bunamwaya from relegated Ediofe FC.

He seems to have regained his hunger for the game and was the architect of a 10-1 drowning of Sharing FC.

The 20-year-old struck five goals on Wednesday, taking his tally to 11. This is two more than SC Villa's Emmanuel Okwi, with the season far from the halfway stage.

Last year's joint top scorers Brian Umony and Bruno Olobo managed 21.

The 10-1 defeat has forced Sharing coach Richard Kayiira to throw in the towel, but has boosted Bunamwaya's title hopes.

The fleet-footed forward, who has already exceeded the nine goals he scored in the previous season while at Ediofe, has set his sights on helping the club claim its first domestic title.

"We want to win the league title," said Okhuti after he bagged his five goals.

But there is more than a hint of mystery surrounding the striker, who has appeared a shadow of his old self and short on confidence. The concern was that he seemed slightly off the pace, just a touch short of the strutting footballer who bowed to no-one.

On the evidence of his three previous outings against Kakira, Iganga and Sharing, the Cranes forward has left domestic football wondering: What's changed now?

" I scored against Kakira, scored three against Iganga and five against Sharing because I am being fielded in a more central attacking position," Okhuti said.

"Sharing have problems, they seem a tired team but I felt I had a very good game. The secret is we have changed from a 4-3-3 formation to 4-4-2.

"The top scorer's boot will be mine but I am more focused on helping the team win the league," he added.

Simba leads the table with 32 points, KCC have 30 while Bunamwaya are third with 27. The Super League resumes Sunday with Bunamwaya facing Mbarara.

+Richard Kayiira has resigned as head coach at Nsambya-based Uganda Super League debutants Sharing FC.

"I'm not there now. I can't help it. While I want the team in order, the players want most of the boys from their own areas to play," a furious Kayiira said. He also blamed injuries of key players.

Sharing has conceded 26 goals in three games-including a 10-1 hammering. Sharing FC, funded by Kampala businessmen Ben Etyang and Robert Muwonge, gets assistance from Catholic-founded Nsambya Sharing Youth Centre.
