Uganda: UIA to Reward 2008 Best Investors

Kampala — THE 15th Investor of the Year award giving ceremony will take place on January 16,' the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) executive director, Dr. Maggie Kigozi, has said.

She said President Yoweri Museveni would preside over the ceremony to be held under the theme: Corporate Social Responsibility.

"The awards are aimed at appreciating investors for their contribution to the economic growth of the country and the community," Dr. Kigozi said.

She said only companies that started commercial production between November 2007 and October this year would qualify.

She added that priority would be given to small and medium scale firms.

Dr. Kigozi said UIA, the Uganda National Bureau of Standards, the Uganda Manufacturers Association, the Uganda Export Promotion Board were identifying companies to participate.

Others are the Uganda National Council of Science and Technology and the National Environment Management Authority.

and the Uganda Journalists Association.

Dr. Kigozi said 52 companies have won awards since the Uganda Investment Authority started awarding best performing investors in 1994.
