Zambia/Morocco: Country Names Squad for Morocco

7 November 2008

Zambia national soccer team coach Herve Renard has called 15 players for this month's international friendly against Morocco slated for Casablanca.

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) communication officer, Erick Mwanza, said the team that Renard has selected would go into camp three days before travelling to North Africa to face the Atlas Lions in a match billed for November 19.

Mwanza said France-based former Jomo Cosmos midfielder Felix Katongo, now on loan at Chateauroux from Rennes, is out of action for eight weeks after suffering an injury and he has been left out of the team.

He said all the foreign-based players that have been called to the Chipolopolo squad will not come to Lusaka, but would instead join the team in Morocco.

Mwanza added that it was important that all professionals line-up for the game against Morocco because it would be an important preparatory match ahead of the 2010 World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations qualifier set for March next year against Egypt.

On striker Roger Kola who has been left out of the team, Mwanza said the player got permission from FAZ to travel to Norway for trials.
