CID Police chiefs were yesterday quizzed for hours in a brutality inquiry largely tainted by conflicting evidence.
Senior Police Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department led by Mr Edson Mbiringi, now the Commissioner in charge of Local Administration Police had a hard time as MPs investigating the alleged use of brutality within the Force insisted that the officers be held responsible for a string of misdeeds.
"You're going to explain to this committee now, what exactly you meant when you said [lock the door, suffocate the fools and let them die in the vehicle]," said committee chairperson Peter Nyombi.
The committee heard that Mr Mbiringi convicted MPs Odonga Otto and Elias Lukwago without reading the merits and demerits of the charges and not even the witnesses' statements on file. "I don't remember everything in their files but at least I read and got satisfied that the duo violated traffic rules," Mr Mbiringi said.
