Kampala — At an average 2.3 goals so far in the league, Andrew Mukasa's long standing record of 45 goals in one season appears achievable.
The league has so far produced 273 goals from 117 games which is almost one third of the season.
Bunnamwaya striker Caesar Okhuti, who notched five past hapless Sharing could surpass Jimmy Kirunda's record of 32 goals in a season or even come within sight of Mukasa's astonishing record. "It was good for me and that should set me up for bigger things," said Okhuti.
Bunnamwaya's 10-1 win over Sharing on Wednesday is the biggest league victory since Villa's infamous 22-1 annihilation of Akol in 2003. In close pursuit of Okhuti is SC Villa's Emmanuel Okwi who has netted nine goals.
Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) pair Eric Obua (seven) and Martin Muwanga (six) as well as Bunnamwaya's Yuda Mugalu (six) have an outside chance. Bunnamwaya have not lost a game on the pitch and travel to face Mbarara United on Sunday.
Despite being docked six points by the competitions committee, Bunnamwaya are currently third on 27 points, five behind pacesetters Simba and three adrift of defending league champions Kampala City Council FC.
