He was full of smiles, as he met the media, at a press conference held at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel on Wednesday.
He didn't disappoint, as his press conference was peppered with his usual one liners. Commenting on his stay in the house, Uganda's representative on M-Net's reality show Big Brother said, "It was not a Fun Factory being in that house". ROBERT KALUMBA sat him down for a one on one after the press conference.
Morris, for some people, you came across as a boring, and quiet character in that house, what is your take on that allegation?
I went through a filter of over 1,000 Ugandans, who wanted to participate in the show. I was chosen by the Big Brother crew from South Africa, and they must have seen something in me among the 1,000 Ugandans. Possibly they wanted a "boring" Ugandan in the house! Besides over excitement is a sickness, which I didn't want to catch.
If you are to go back to the house, what is the one thing you would change about you?
I wouldn't change anything. I would stick with my "boring" character. Hahaha!
Did you feel less of a man when Ricco took Latoya away from you?
No, I didn't feel less of man. Latoya is my friend. I know most of you wanted me to get physical with Ricco, but I resisted to unleash my verbal artillery on him, because she was just a friend.
What have you learnt from your Big Brother experience?
I have learnt to be open minded. There are certain situations in the house like nominations, which taught me to deal with complicated situations, taking bad or hard situations by the horn.
What are your immediate plans after Big Brother?
First I need to relax and get used to the situation. At the moment, I feel like I'm from another planet! I would like to continue doing what I was doing before, like photography, and modelling. But I'm also looking for ambassadorial roles in HIV organisations, or poverty alleviation companies, that would be nice.
Since you failed to win the $100,000, what would you advise the next Ugandan to do, in order to win the money?
Every Big Brother is a different take from the previous one. Mine was different from the others which Gaetano, and Maureen participated in. But what I would say is that the next Ugandan should be original, should be able to perform for the cameras, and be able to keep their head above water.
Your saving TK, to some, is considered to be one of your most foolish moves, it showed your indecisiveness. What is your take on that?
That is far from the truth. Honestly it was hard for me to think about what I was about to do. It was so impromptu. If you are to remember, I asked Big Brother to give me a minute to think, but like I have said before, I killed two birds with one stone. I saved TK, and Ricco whom I had nominated was saved. It was controversial, but it provided a little bit of magic in the house!
What would you have done, if you had won the money?
I have a daughter, she is my world, and I would have provided a better education for her. I also would have started a production company, and I would have shot a TV soap opera. The money would have gone into buying equipment and paying actors.
What is with your use of colourful words when speaking English?
Ugandan schools are the best schools around. I'm a university graduate, and I love African literature. That is the cocktail that makes me speak my English that way. It wasn't for the cameras, that is the way I speak my English.
