Rwanda/Uganda: Country Faces Uganda in Opener

Kigali — THREE foreign countries have arrived in Kigali ahead of the 2nd edition of the World Sit Ball Championships which gets underway tomorrow at Amahoro indoor stadium (Petit Stade), Remera.

Yesterday, the National Paralympics Committee president Dominique Bizimana confirmed the countries as Switzerland, Germany and Uganda.

Both Switzerland and Germany arrived late last week and have been touring Rwanda as they prepare for the event while Uganda arrived on Wednesday. All teams are residing at Bel Air hotel in Kimironko.

Other delegations from Burundi and DR Congo were expected to jet in yesterday. Meanwhile, Rwanda will be represented by two teams; Rwanda A &B. Defending champions Germany will also have two teams, Emmelshausen and Baden.

The hosts, who took silver two years ago on home soil, will into the championship hoping to go a step better. Rwanda A open their campaign this afternoon against Uganda.

The 2nd World Sit ball championship is being sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, German based Human Help Network, Germany Embassy, Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO), International Sitball Federation, Handicap international, DED and Kigart.
