Luanda — The Republics of Vietnam and of Angola will continue cooperating in the fields of education and engineering, through institutions in charge of education, science and technology, guaranteed this Thursday here the Vietnamese extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to the country, Nguyen Dinh.
According to the diplomat, at the end of his mission to Angola, who spoke to the press after an audience granted by the minister of Science and Technology, Maria Cândida Teixeira, the cooperation will include the sending of Vietnamese teachers and scientists to Angola in order to elaborate projects in these spheres.
Vietnam, in the light of this cooperation, is open to receive Angolan students who wish to attend higher or post-graduation and doctorate courses.
"After three years of working in the country and following the national reconstruction process, I wish all the success in the economic, social and political sectors to the government of Angola, which has done a lot for the betterment of the living conditions of its citizens", he stressed.
He informed that the relation between Angola and Vietnam dates back to more than 20 years and is focussed on various sectors, with highlight to health and education, areas with over 300 professionals, amongst physicians and teachers, in the country's 18 provinces.
With regards to agriculture, Vietnam is ready to continue collaborating with Angola, mainly in the planting of rice, a sector in which it is the second world biggest producer with an average export of five million tonnes per year, thereby having the knowledge needed to assist Angola in this area.
Apart from the sectors of agriculture, such as collecting and manufacturing of rubber, coffee production, the ambassador also guarantees cooperation in the fisheries field.
On her turn, Angolan minister of Science and Technology, Maria Cândida Teixeira, said that the meeting served for the parties to speak about the agreements already signed between the two States.
She added that recently an Angolan delegation travelled, last April, to Vietnam to discuss about the process of developing higher education, agriculture, staff training and health.
Regarding Maria Cândida Teixeira's recent visit to Nevada State (USA), for the 2008 Winter Meeting and Nuclear Technology Exhibition, the official informed that the commission she leads will jointly analyse with other countries the ways of developing the nuclear technology worldwide.
