Sokoto — Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, has called on members of the 2008 Amirul Hajj team to join hands together to ensure a hitch-free Hajj.
The Sultan made the plea yesterday, when a delegation led by Speaker of the House of Representatives and Amirul Hajj, Hon. Dimeji Bankole, visited him in his palace in Sokoto.
He said the responsibilities bestowed on them by the Federal Government was enormous, adding that with concerted efforts and cooperation, the Hajj will be conducted successfully without hitch.
According to the monarch, the world is currently witnessing a change in leadership and harped on the need for people to embrace change in the way things are done in the past so that the nation can move ahead.
The Sultan expressed optimism that the team will discharge their assignment when the chips are down and called for collaborative efforts among stakeholders, with the view to achieving laudable objectives.
"As a leader of the House of Representatives, we know that you have the capability and strength to lead the team very well and we strongly believe you will put in your best to ensure that the Hajj is successful," he said.
.Earlier, Bankole told the Sultan that they were in Sokoto to see things for themselves as regards preparations for Hajj.
He appealed to the Sultan to advise pilgrims to pay attention to laws of Saudi Arabia and be disciplined while performing Hajj rites.
