Nigeria: Greatness Will Elude this Country Unless... - ICPC Boss

Abuja — Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Emmanuel Ayoola, said in Abuja on Thursday that greatness would elude the country except the people embrace change and turn things around.

Speaking to staff of ICPC on Wednesday at the commission's staff assembly, Ayoola said Nigerians must begin to think and dream greater things for the country.

The ICPC boss said the victory of Barack Obama as the first Afro-American President of America should not be seen as a victory for the black race.

"It should be seen as a victory for value because the blacks in America did not constitute the majority. So, the victory is achieved by people that believed that they could stand by value, by things, which are great, not for self promotion, self consideration and selfishness," he said.

He, however, charged staff of the commission to start making the necessary change that would make ICPC great, stressing that like any other agency, the commission is facing challenges as people are only motivated by selfishness, not by service and commitment, urging officers of the commission to brace up to a new challenge and warned that those who are found wanting would be shown the way out.
