Uganda: Hawks On the Edge for Demotion

Kampala — IF the Gulu Hawks lose to the Mogas Falcons today - in what is the last game of the 2008 MTN-FUBA regular season- they will be demoted to the men's second division.

Sounds pretty simple but that's not even half the story. Unlike all other times when relegation is a deserved reward for being crap, this time the Hawks would have been relegated due to a lethal combination of two forfeited matches last Saturday.

The Hawks were culprits in one of the forfeits as they failed to turn up against the Kyambogo Warriors. KIU were responsible for the other when they arrived too late for their match against the KCC Lions, who consequently overtook the Hawks in the survival race.

If the Hawks had faced the Warriors, even a loss would have guaranteed their safety.
