Kampala — On October 21, 2008, children who sing in the African Children's Choir had the chance of singing for American President George W. Bush at his residence in Washington D.C.
The children aged 7 -12 years were guest performers at the President's official home called The White House. Also present was America's secretary of state Condoleezza Rice, the President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Sir Bob Geldof, a popular musician and many other important people. George Bush has been the American president for eight years. Elections to replace him were held on November 4.
In many of their songs, the children sang about HIV / AIDS, the need to educate children, and peace in the world. The African Children's Choir was founded in 1978 by Ray Barnett, a human rights activist and it is mainly comprised of orphans. The choir has toured the world, singing songs of peace and meeting world leaders. They have also sung alongside renowned American musicians like Wyclef Jean, Carlos Santana, John Legend and Josh Groban.
