Uganda: Journalists Choke On Juliana Songs

Kampala — IT was Tuesday night when Juliana Kanyomozi invited the media, her friends and former foes for a celebration of her historic win at the just concluded Pearl of Africa Music (PAM) Awards at Club Silk. Juliana won the coveted Artiste of The Year title.

First thirst ruled the night as guests, who rushed for drinks were asked to pay. Many had imagined drinks would be on the house. No wonder some run off cursing.

And how they missed!

The house soon released snacks and drinks non stop. The only interruption was Pepsi's Kazoora Junior, the night's emcee, who challenged scribes to sing any of Juliana's songs. You know how journalists criticise poor singers, but boy, none of them could actually come close to singing! Daily Monitor's, Moses Serugo almost turned Toba Nakutya into a funeral song. Another journalist cried into the microphone: "I can't sing!"

There were more surprises. Amon, Juliana's ex-boyfriend and father of her son, showed up and actually hugged her. Jose Chameleone was also wheeled into Club Silk. The guy whom everyone thought was Juliana's new catch, turned out to be her brother. It was partying till morning.
