The Angolan ambassador to the Republic of Congo, Pedro Fernando Mavunza, praised last Saturday the heroic spirit of Angolan people, in achieving independence and defending liberation.
According to a note from the Angolan Embassy in that country, which has reached ANGOP, Pedro Mavunza exalted the Angolan people's heroic spirit during a press conference in the ambit of the 33rd anniversary of the proclamation of national independence.
The ambassador underlined that 11 November 1975 was the end of successive unequal and deadly fights against oppressors and plunderers that dominated and explored the Angolan people for five centuries.
The diplomat, who reminded the circumstances that involved the proclamation of independence, also commended the support and solidarity that the people who love peace and freedom offered to Angolans in their resistance for the defence of sovereignty, which was conquered with unforgettable human and material sacrifice.
The official also made a balance of the six years of peace before highlighting that Angola is a country under construction, where a lot of workers and engineers are committed to rebuilding the national territory.
He also highlighted the signing of the memorandum of understanding on 1 August 2006 with Cabinda Forum for Dialogue (FCD), the consolidation of democracy and the building of a law-abiding state as well as good governance.
The ambassador also highlighted the victory of the Angolan people for holding the legislative elections last September.
The Angolan diplomat clarified that it is being made all the effort to reactivate the Angola/Congo joint commission, by considering it as the best forum to analyse and put the future into perspective, on the basis of new horizons that might emerge with the exploration of other sectors for co-operation.
