Luanda — The homage to the Angolan urban popular instrumental music topped, Friday evening, the gala for delivery of the National Prize of Culture and Arts held at Cine Tropical, in Luanda.
Through the acoustic sound instruments, Sanguito, Nanuto, Boto Trindade, Paulo Paka, among others reminded the public of the national music produced until the 1980's, with the interpretation of songs of Artur Nunes and Negoleiros do Ritmo.
At the invitation of the Culture Ministry (Mincult), the singers played the songs of Minguito, África Rítmos, Kiezos, Jovens do Prenda, Águias Reais, Os Gingas, Carlitos Vieira Dias, Merengues, Bonga and Belmiro Carlos.
The musicians' 24 themes included those of Carlitos Vieira Dias, Os Merengues, Bonga and Belmiro Carlos.
The Angolan urban music is the result of a symbiosis between the traditional and contemporary instruments, started in the XIX century until the 1930's, with the bands Guarda, Ngola Rítmos and os Irmãos Assis.
Meanwhile, the use of international instruments, namely the electronic organ, wind instruments (saxophone and trumpet) among others, in the 1960's, influenced the Angolan urban music.
