Abuja — Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Osita Chidoka, said about 400 Nigerians die monthly as a result of road accident.

He made the disclosure at the weekend in Abuja during the walking and jogging exercise organised by FRSC in commemoration of World Day of Road Traffic Victims in line with the United Nations Resolution in 2006.

Four hundred Nigerians that die every month as a result of road traffic accident is totally unacceptable and we must do every thing within our means to bring the figure down," he said.

Chidoka said the commission has stepped up efforts in ensuring that accidents are reduced to the barest minimum during these 'ember months'.

He disclosed that President Umaru Yar'Adua has shown a lot of interests in the activities of FRSC, adding that the President has committed much funds to the commission aimed at improving their service delivery to the public.

Also, Senate President, David Mark, who was the special guest of honour, advised all Nigerians, particularly top government officials to always engage in physical exercise so as to remain physically fit and mentally alert.
