Angola: Former Athletes Happy With Homage

Luanda — Former sports people honoured Sunday in Luanda expressed satisfaction at the move sponsored by Angolan private firm, Marimba Trading.

Speaking at separate interviews, the former athletes said the homage was the recognition of their deed before and after independence for the elevation of the name of Angola in the world.

"I feel very much honoured with the fact of my being remembered and it is also very significant to me as a sportswoman," said Júlia Mingas, ex-basketball player of the 1970's.

Domingos Inguila Júnior, former football star, congratulated the organisation on the gesture. To him, it is good to feel the tender of people and solidarity with ex-athletes.

To him, such gestures should be multiplied to honour figures like Laurindo, Victorino Cunha, Manuel Gaspar, Daniel Miguel Cata, Rui Clington, Didi Sebasteão, and others.
