Luanda — Angola's national second division championship of football will be called "Gira Angola", as from 2009.
This follows a decision from the 5th broad meeting of the Angola Football Federation (FAF) held Sunday in Uige city, northern Angola.
According to FAF chairman, Justino Fernandes, who presented the conclusions of the meeting, the name will serve to help take football all around Angola, which will be facilitated by the ongoing repair of roads all over the country.
To this end, a working commission to draft a programme similar to that of the main football competition "Girabola" has been appointed.
This edition, the national second division championship of football was played by zones in order to facilitate the travel of the other provinces and lessen costs.
The second division championship has this year qualified three teams for the national first division. They are Caála, Académica do Lobito and Académica do Soyo.
