Emni Haili — A new elementary school has been constructed in Adi-Gebru, Emni Haili sub-zone, at a cost of 2.5 million Nakfa through the collaboration of a benevolent Scottish family and the inhabitants of the locality.
The school which is equipped with eight classrooms and a water tanker with a capacity of holding 54 cubic meters of water has already begun providing educational opportunities to about 600 students from grade 1 to 5.
The director of the school, Mr. Nebie Tsegai, stated that the students who used to attend classes in makeshift facilities would now receive instruction in comfortable classrooms thanks to the initiative.
The director general of social services in the Southern region, Mr. Tesfatsion Girmai, indicated that school children from the villages of Adi-Gebru, Argezana, Ade-Abraham, Adi-Merkejan and others would become beneficiaries of the newly built school. He explained that more than 450 schools have been constructed in the region and are making due contribution in the teaching-learning process.
