Rwanda/Burkina Faso: Junior Wasps Fall to Burkina Faso

Bonnie Mugabe

10 November 2008

Kigali — Ernest Kwizera's first half strike could not earn Rwanda a much needed victory over hosts Burkina Faso in the first leg of the final round of the African U-17 Championship.

The newly signed APR striker gave Rwanda a first half lead but Burkina Faso clawed back into the lead after two poor defending and goalkeeping errors gifted them a 2-1 victory in Ouagadougou.

Burkina Faso now need a draw in Kigali to book a place in the finals of next year's African U-17 Championship while Rwanda need a win without conceding a goal to progress to the finals.

The second leg matches have been scheduled for November 21-23.

The 8th African U-17 champions will be hosted in Algeria from March 19-April 3, 2009.
