Freetown — Mayor of Freetown Herbert George-Williams Tuesday led the council's inspection team to inspect the Freetown municipality.
George-Williams told Concord Times that: "I am leading this team because it is my responsibility to ensure that every thing is going well in the Western Area. I want to make sure that everything is going on."
He said Freetown is the country's capital and lots of visitors visit the city.
Mayor George-Williams said that was not the first to embark on such an exercise.
"It is the duty of the council to make sure that the city is clean and tidy. Take a look at the city now it is very clean. Cleanness is next to godliness," he said.
Councilor Samba Kamara representing ward 371 said they are working as a team because the mayor want the council to succeed.
Samba said they are walking side by side with the business people and others stakeholders in Freetown to ensure that the city is clean.
"Any person who violet the council's by laws will be punished according to the lay down rules," he said.
