Lagos — Keeping its promise to touch the nooks and crannies of West Africa as regional route of its network, Virgin Nigeria, the nation's private sector flag carrier fulfilled its promise last week when it formally inaugurated its services to Monrovia.
During the inauguration ceremony at the Robert International Airport , the Vice President of Liberia, His Excellency, Joseph Boakai commended Virgin Nigeria for strengthening trade relations between Nigeria and Liberia while expressing satisfaction at the choice of travel which has now been made available to passengers on the route.
"Virgin Nigeria's commencement of flight operations to Monrovia is a welcome development marking a historic milestone in the rebuilding of Liberia, and we therefore celebrate the inauguration of this service which will help bring us a step closer to our goal of attracting investors through accessibility to our country".
Speaking further, he noted that the commencement of flights to Monrovia by Virgin Nigeria was another genuine investment by Nigerians that will lead to a productive partnership aimed at reducing the level of poverty. "What Virgin Nigeria has done in opening this route is to give a stamp of trust and faith to the immense potential that exists and the steady steps that Liberia has made since democracy's return" Chief (Mrs.) Opral Benson, the head of the Nigerian delegation and a citizen of Liberia , re-iterated. "One can only say well done to Virgin Nigeria and look forward to a busy route and a seamless operation going forward."
The Chief Executive Officer of Virgin Nigeria, Mr. Conrad Clifford, represented by the Head, Corporate Communications, Mrs. Nkiru Olumide-Ojo disclosed that with the opening of the Monrovia route, Virgin Nigeria is aiming to consolidate diplomatic and economic relations between Nigeria and other African nations in what he called "the hands across Africa project". "We are encouraged by the support we have so far received from the Liberian government through the Transport Ministry and our commitment is to ensure that we continually offer seamless means of travel to our passengers", Nkiru further noted.
