Lagos — Six persons including an undergraduate were separately crushed to death in multiple auto crashes in Lagos weekend. Several others were allegedly injured in the accidents.
This is as police in the state have warned drivers against recklessness and disobedience to traffic rules, saying that the high rate of accidents in the s state] was due to traffic abuses.
An eyewitness, who does not want his name in print said some of the injured victims of the multiple accidents are receiving treatment at the General Hospital Ikeja, while the corpses of the unfortunate incident have also been deposited at the hospital's mortuary.
Daily Champion learnt that the undergraduate of an undisclosed higher institution, identified simply as Taiwo was knocked down by a fast moving commercial bus at Gbagada, Lagos he was said to have gone to see a friend before the accident occurred at about 9.30 am last Saturday.
Police source at Oshodi Lagos said another victim identified as Rafiu Saoju was also knocked down by a commercial Volkswagen bus with registration number XXI 745 WC.
He said the driver of the commercial bus lost control and skidded off the road resulting in the accident, while one Yunusa Awori was killed at Anthony Village road Lagos.
Another person Yinka was crushed to death by a bus opposite LASTMA coiporate office at Oshodi, similiarly, yet one person was killed at Maza Maza, near FESTAC gate by yet to be arrested driver.
Police Public Relation Officer, PPRO, Mr. Frank Mba confirmed the death of six persons in the multiple accidents nothing that the corpses have been deposited at the mortuary in Ikeja.
Mba said "the incident are caused by recklessness and utter disregard of traffic rules by drivers"
He warned that Policemen will go tough on drivers, who flouts road regulations.
